The Väderstad Tempo L 8-24 has a new liquid fertilizer application option. Väderstad has introduced a new liquid fertilizer application system for its Väderstad Tempo L 8-24 high-speed seed drill. The system is fully integrated into the drill and ensures the precise and productive sowing for which the Väderstad Tempo is known.
The application of liquid fertilizer with the Tempo has several advantages for farmers. Firstly, it saves time and fuel, as there is no need to make a separate pass through the field to apply fertilizer. Secondly, it ensures accurate and uniform application of fertilizer in each row, which contributes to better absorption of nutrients by plants. Thirdly, it improves the quality and yield of crops, as liquid fertilizers quickly penetrate the soil and are highly available to plants.
"We see that farmers want to be able to apply liquid fertilizers with the Tempo seeder. That is why we have developed a system that matches the power and quality of the Tempo seed drill. This means that the system is easy to set up, easy to control and precisely doses the fertilizer in each row," says Oskar Karlsson, Director of Product Management for Drills at Väderstad.
The new system has a 2,000-liter plastic liquid fertilizer hopper. The liquid fertilizer can be applied either in the row using high-precision sections or near the row using special coulters. For the convenience of the farmer, the system allows the use of different rates of liquid fertilizer application without changing nozzles.
"For example, the machine can deliver standard amounts of liquid fertilizer from 30 to 200 liters per hectare without the need to change nozzles on the machine, with a row spacing of 750 mm and a travel speed of 15 km/h," says Oskar Karlsson.
"The system continuously measures the flow of liquid fertilizer through the nozzles to accurately control the application rate. Using this information online, the system automatically maintains the preset application rate.
"The farmer sets the desired application rate in liters per hectare. The system automatically adjusts the application rate based on the flow through the system. So there is no need to calibrate the system," says Oskar Karlsson.
The liquid fertilizer application system is fully integrated into the Väderstad E-Control control system based on an iPad tablet, where the driver has full control over the sowing process in the field. Just like seed metering, liquid fertilizer is applied to the rows with the possibility of sectional shutdown.
To safely fill the liquid fertilizer tank, you can use an external pump or gravity or the machine's on-board pump. For safe operation, the machine is equipped with a water tank, a washing system and compartments for personal protective equipment.
Useful information: spare parts for precision seeders.
The new product will be shown at the international exhibition Agritechnica in November 2023. The Tempo L 8-24 liquid fertilizer application system for seeders will be available from October 2023.
Väderstad is a Swedish family-owned company that manufactures agricultural machinery such as cultivators, harrows, rollers and seeders. Väderstad is known for its high-speed and high-precision seeders that can perform tillage, leveling, seeding, and compaction in one pass. Väderstad also offers seed drill models that can apply liquid fertilizer along with the main crop. Väderstad seeders are designed to work in different soil conditions and for different types of crops, such as cereals, oilseeds, sugar beets, peas, corn, sunflower and many others. Väderstad seeders are equipped with modern electronics and software that allows the farmer to control and monitor the sowing process on a tablet. Väderstad seeders have won several awards and set world records for their performance and quality.
