Cherkasy agrarians show high yields of grain and pulses and are actively sowing winter crops. According to the latest information, as of September 14, 2023, Cherkasy region's farmers harvested grains and pulses on 274.4 thou hectares, which is 42.9% of the planned area. The gross harvest amounted to 1 mln 522 thsd tonnes with an average yield of 55.5 c/ha. The yield increased by 7.6 c/ha compared to the previous year. Cherkasy region is among the three leaders among Ukrainian regions in terms of grain yields.

This was reported by the Department of Agricultural Development of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration. Farmers in Cherkasy region have completed harvesting the early group of grain crops. Now they continue threshing cereals and oilseeds.

Millet has been threshed from an area of 2.5 thou hectares, which is 82.3% of the forecast. The company harvested 9.5 thou tons of millet with a yield of 38.6 centners per hectare. Buckwheat was harvested from 2.9 thou hectares, which is 77.4% of the forecast. The company harvested 4.1 thou tons of buckwheat with a yield of 13.8 c/ha.

Sunflower was harvested from an area of 3.8 thou hectares, and 10 thou tons of sunflower seeds were harvested with a yield of 26.2 c/ha. Soybeans were harvested from an area of 14.9 thou hectares, and 36.6 thou tons of soybeans were harvested with a yield of 24.5 c/ha.

Along with harvesting this year's crop, farmers in Cherkasy region are planting winter crops for next year. In particular, 23 thou hectares of winter wheat (or 11.9% of the forecast), 1.12 thou hectares of winter barley (9.2%) and 0.7 thou hectares of winter rye (46.7%) have been planted.

In addition, the planting of winter rape is almost finished, with 49.2 thou hectares planted, which is 95.3% of the plan.

In total, all categories of farms in Cherkasy region are planning to plant 207.1 thou hectares of winter crops, including 193.4 thou hectares of winter wheat, 12.2 thou hectares of winter barley and 1.5 thou hectares of winter rye. In addition, the company plans to plant 51.6 thou hectares of winter rape.
