Laser coating services
03.12.2025

LLC “Bas-Agro” offers high-precision laser cladding services for metal components to restore and strengthen critical parts. With laser cladding, you can not only return a component to working condition but also significantly extend its service life under demanding operating conditions.

We work with cutting edges, wear surfaces, shafts, augers, and working elements of agricultural and industrial machinery. The new laser cladding direction logically complements our existing metalworking and spare parts manufacturing services.

You can order services by phone +38 (067) 470-35-44 or via the website https://bas.ua.

The essence of laser cladding technology

Laser cladding is a process of applying a special wear-resistant layer to the surface of a part using a concentrated laser beam and a feed of metal powder or wire. Unlike traditional welding or hardfacing methods, the process is highly localized, with minimal thermal impact on the base material, which reduces the risk of distortion and cracking.

In the area exposed to the laser beam, a thin surface layer of the base material and the added material melt. After solidification, a dense coating with a metallurgical bond to the substrate is formed. This structure ensures low porosity, controlled layer thickness, and precise definition of the treated area. In practice, this means that laser cladding makes it possible to restore working surfaces without significantly changing the geometry of the part.

Key technical advantages of the technology include:

  • Local restoration of working surfaces without complete disassembly of the assembly.
  • Minimal effect on geometry due to a small heat-affected zone.
  • Precise dosing of material and uniform coating thickness.
  • The possibility to combine surface hardening with corrosion resistance by choosing the appropriate alloy.

For the customer, laser cladding is a tool to increase the service life of expensive assemblies without fully replacing the parts.

Robotic system based on a BORUNTE manipulator

At LLC “Bas-Agro”, the laser cladding process is implemented on a robotic cell built around an industrial six-axis BORUNTE manipulator. The robot is responsible for spatial positioning, while a specialized laser head with an optical system and powder feed unit is mounted on its flange.

This approach combines the versatility of an industrial robot with the high precision of an optical system. The motion path is programmed according to the shape of the part: it is possible to follow complex cutting-edge contours, end faces, radiused transitions, and internal areas that are difficult to access using conventional welding or surfacing.

In combination with robotic control, laser cladding ensures a stable industrial result, including for batch restoration of similar parts. This makes it possible to integrate the process into the overall production workflow and maintain repeatable quality from batch to batch.

Materials used for laser cladding

During laser cladding operations, special powder or wire materials are used, selected according to the operating conditions of the specific part. The main groups of such materials include:

  • Nickel-based alloys that combine wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance.
  • Cobalt-based alloys for service under impact loads and at elevated temperatures.
  • Iron-based wear-resistant alloys as a cost-effective solution for large parts operating in abrasive environments.

Compositions based on tungsten carbide in a metallic matrix for maximum resistance to intense abrasive wear.

Properly selected laser cladding allows the surface of the part to be adapted to real operating conditions: from aggressive fertilizer environments to contact with soil, sand, and mineral particles. The specialists at LLC “Bas-Agro” analyze loads, environment, temperature regime, and service-life requirements, and on this basis select the optimal material composition.

Parts that are practical to restore

The laser cladding technology is suitable for a wide range of parts that operate in harsh conditions. Primarily, these include:

  • Cutting blades, paddles, teeth, and working tools of tillage and seeding equipment.
  • Shafts, augers, bearing journals, and seating surfaces subjected to wear due to loads and abrasive action.
  • Components operating in humid environments, in contact with fertilizers, and in aggressive media.

In many cases, the application of laser cladding makes it possible to restore the geometry and functional characteristics of an assembly without replacing costly components. This is particularly relevant for agricultural and industrial enterprises where equipment downtime directly affects production results.

Advantages of working with LLC “Bas-Agro”

LLC “Bas-Agro” has many years of experience in metalworking and the production of spare parts for agricultural machinery. The implementation of laser cladding has become a logical extension of this line of work: the company has a solid production base, experienced engineers and technologists, and the capability to handle both single parts and series batches.

Key advantages include:

  1. Engineering analysis of the part’s operating conditions and a well-grounded choice of coating technology and material.
  2. Use of a robotic laser cladding cell to achieve high accuracy and repeatability of results.
  3. Reduction of customer costs for new spare parts due to extended service life of existing components.
  4. The ability to integrate laser cladding services into planned maintenance and repair cycles.

For the customer, laser cladding is a way to shift part of the costs from purchasing new assemblies to controlled restoration expenses, reducing the risks of downtime and unplanned equipment stoppages.

How to order the service

If you have parts for which laser cladding may be relevant, the specialists at LLC “Bas-Agro” are ready to provide consultation, assess the feasibility of restoration, and propose a technological solution.

You can contact us by phone +38 (067) 470-35-44 or via the website https://bas.ua. During the consultation, we will help determine whether laser cladding is suitable for your specific parts, suggest coating material options, and agree on the technical and economic parameters of the project.

Ultimately, laser cladding becomes a long-term solution that improves the cost-effectiveness of your equipment operation and increases the reliability of key assemblies.
