Kuhn Sitera 320D — Twin Discs and Smart Precision in a Three-Metre Drill
Kuhn keeps expanding its Sitera 100 line-up of integrated mechanical seed drills. After the Suffolk-shoe Sitera 310, the single-disc Sitera 320 and the Seedflex 100-equipped Sitera 330, the market now greets the Sitera 320D — the first model in the family to feature twin seeding discs.
What’s New on the Sitera 320D
- Twin seeding discs on two staggered bars, 25 cm apart. The front disc opens the furrow, the smaller rear disc stabilises it and places the seed accurately even in heavy residue. Up to 35 kg of coulter pressure keeps depth consistent.
- 3 m working width with two row-spacing options: 12.5 cm (24 rows) or 15 cm (20 rows).
- 600 L hopper mounted forward. Combined with the direct coupling to the rotary-harrow packer, this shifts the centre of gravity closer to the tractor, so a 100–120 hp tractor is enough.
- Helica screw-type metering unit. It can be wheel-driven (mechanical) or powered by an electric motor. The E-version supports rate-on-the-go, variable-rate seeding via prescription maps, and automatic Section Control on headlands.
- Full ISOBUS integration. Operate from a CCI 800/1200, any VT-compatible screen, or the dedicated VT 30 for tractors without ISOBUS.
Sitera 100: Four Configurations for Any Field
Model | Coulter type | Rows / spacing | Best for |
---|---|---|---|
Sitera 310 | Suffolk shoe | 20 × 15 cm or 24 × 12.5 cm | Light soils, small seeds |
Sitera 320 | Single disc | 20 or 24 rows | Moderate residue |
Sitera 320D | Twin disc | 20 or 24 rows | Min-till, high speed |
Sitera 330 | Seedflex 100 | 20 or 24 rows | Max precision & ground contour |
All variants come in mechanical or electric drive, carry a 600 L hopper and pair with HRB/HR Series-3 rotary harrows or the EL 162 power harrow, making them versatile for mixed soil conditions.
Kuhn’s Broader Drill Portfolio — From Mechanical to Pneumatic
VENTA 100 — pneumatic drills 3–4 m, 850–1050 L hopper: all-round combi units for mid-size farms.
ESPRO 3002/4002 (R) — trailed min-till drills 3–6 m with CROSSFLEX bar: up to 15 km/h at reduced draft.
MAXIMA 3 — pneumatic precision planters 6–12 rows with GPS row shut-off and VRA: for maize, sunflower, soybean.
Three Kuhn Differentiators
- Balanced weight: forward hopper and packer mounting ease the hitch load.
- Versatile Helica metering: one unit for all crops, quick calibration, seed-mix friendly.
- Full ISOBUS ecosystem and electric drive, delivering VRA and Section Control that many rivals still list as extras.
Sitera 320D vs. Typical 3 m Competitor
Criterion | Kuhn Sitera 320D | Typical rival (3 m class) |
---|---|---|
Weight | 920–1200 kg | 1100–1400 kg |
Centre of gravity | 15–20 % closer to tractor | Standard, higher hitch load |
Metering | Helica, mech./electric | Chain or gear, no E-drive |
ISOBUS + Section Control | Standard on E-versions | Optional or unavailable |
Coulter choices | Suffolk / 1 disc / 2 discs / Seedflex | Usually 1 disc, sometimes Suffolk |
Zero-Downtime Parts — Courtesy of Bas-Agro
During the busy sowing season, an hour of stand-still can cost thousands of hryvnias. To keep farmers rolling, Bas-Agro LLC (Cherkasy) has set up in-house production of Kuhn drill parts — from coulter arms to Helica metering components. Over a hundred items are already available online, most shipping same-day from https://bas.ua/en/shop/compatible-with-kuhn-000000004-1 - spare parts for Kuhn seed drills. Local parts availability makes the new Sitera 320D an even smarter investment for Ukrainian growers.
By adding twin discs and full electronics, Sitera 320D rounds off the Sitera 100 family. Coupled with Kuhn’s engineering strengths and readily available Bas-Agro spares, it stands out as one of the most rational 3 m choices for min-till operators who demand pinpoint accuracy without costly downtime.
