Horsch Pronto 9 DC Seeder: a 9-meter all-round workhorse with a new chassis and larger hopper
Horsch is extending its Pronto DC universal disc seeder line with a 9 m variant that brings engineering updates for fast, precise seeding across diverse field conditions. The Pronto 9 DC is not just “another width” — it’s a thoroughly reworked machine with a new chassis, refreshed front tool kinematics and better headland efficiency.
What’s new on the Pronto 9 DC
- New chassis with position-memory DiscSystem: two front gangs of Ø460 mm discs lift/lower independently of the frame at headlands. The wings rise slightly, improving maneuverability and saving time.
- Bigger, pressurized hopper: up to 6,000 L with a 60/40 split — ideal for two components or convenient seed batch separation.
- Familiar yet refined openers: TurboDisc or ParaDisc options keep depth consistent, place seed cleanly and maintain a neat furrow at typical “Pronto-class” speeds.
For context, “classic” Pronto 8–9 DC figures include 8–9 m working width and 2.99 m transport; hopper volumes have typically been 4,000 L (single) or 5,000 L (dual). The new 9-meter variant raises the bar with pressurization and more capacity.
The “three steps to success” principle
- Front Ø460 mm discs aggressively crumble and level the soil.
- Single-row tire packer consolidates the seedbed evenly — identical conditions for each opener.
- TurboDisc (III) with up to ~125 kg downforce per opener forms a straight furrow; the Uniformer retains the seed; the press wheel ensures reliable seed-to-soil contact.
Net effect: the Pronto DC family’s hallmark remains — precise seed placement at high working speeds with moderate draft requirements.
Where the 9-meter format shines
- Short weather windows: DiscSystem kinematics cuts dead time on headlands; the 9 m span helps cover hectares fast when timing is tight.
- Even emergence: the combination of active cutting/leveling, tire packer and stable depth produces uniform stands even under uneven moisture profiles.
- Crop flexibility: from cereals and rapeseed to cover crops and pulses — the DC platform’s versatility is well proven.
Core technical markers (preliminary)
Working width: 9 m (transport ≈ 2.99 m).
Hopper: pressurized up to 6,000 L, 60/40 split.
Front tool: DiscSystem, two rows of Ø460 mm discs with automatic headland control.
Seeding units: TurboDisc / ParaDisc.
Final specifications are typically published closer to sales launch; figures above reflect preliminary materials.
Intelligence & ISOBUS
HORSCH Intelligence (ISOBUS) licenses enable SectionControl and related electronic features: fewer overlaps, stable quality and less operator fatigue. On 7–9 m Pronto models these are standard capabilities, so the 9 DC inherits the same “smart” options.
Tips for Ukrainian conditions
Heavy residue: monitor DiscSystem disc wear and internal scrapers — clean cutting and opener cleanliness are critical at higher speeds.
Moisture management: the tire packer helps draw moisture from below, supporting pace when weather windows are short.
Speed isn’t the goal itself: Pronto allows fast travel, but quality comes first; match ground speed to real field conditions.
Spare parts & support in Ukraine
Bas Agro LLC (Cherkasy) supplies Horsch seeder parts and consumables: bearings, discs, opener assemblies, packers, metering components, hydraulics. Check the catalogue and availability:
