Modern technologies in agriculture: The Geringhoff Rota Disc® concept for efficient cultivation of foliage
Modern agriculture needs to be constantly modernized and new technologies introduced to increase productivity and reduce environmental impact. One of the innovative systems that has already found its application in the processing of leafy stems is the Geringhoff Rota Disc® concept, which is used in Geringhoff headers.
How the Geringhoff Rota Disc® works
This integrated system is designed for maximum crop chopping with three rotors of different diameters. Two of them grab the maize plants and pull them down evenly, while the third rotor, equipped with 15 cutting discs, cuts the plant into short pieces. When the cob is cut off, the plant is "split" for structural reasons, which helps it decompose quickly.
A stalk separator is mounted on the feed screws, which ensures a constant height of the stubble, helping it to break down. This ensures rapid decomposition of post-harvest residues and prevents the formation of an environment for pests.
Advantages of the Geringhoff Rota Disc® system
- Short and diagonally chopped plant material.
- Uniform spreading of the leaf and stem mass across the field.
- Complete breakdown of stubble due to the stem separator.
System components:
- Feeding units
Reliable plant feeding due to the closed double support of the rotors of the harvesting row.
The carbide tines and hardened wipers ensure a long service life and high reliability.
- Geringhoff Rota Disc stalk separator and rotary knife
Additional coating ensures a long service life.
Can be adjusted to increase precision.
- Rotors of the harvesting row
Working edges with a special extra-hard coating for a long service life.
- Rotor with Geringhoff Rota Discs
15 self-sharpening cutting discs with a special coating ensure a long service life at high quality.
The active cutting system rotates in the opposite direction to the direction of plant pulling.
Individual knives can be replaced.
- Connection to the gearbox
The rotors are connected to the gearbox in a very simple way using a spline shaft.
A labyrinth seal provides protection against contamination.
- The reaper gearbox
Lightweight gearbox housing made of aluminum-magnesium alloy.
A maintenance-free internal cam clutch protects the rotors from overloading.
Selection of spare parts for Geringhoff:
- Shaft right 502297, 502481, 502346 Compatible with Geringhoff.
- Sprocket Z-13 with bearing MBY 030021 Geringhoff.
- Bushing with radial claws 027150 (027151) Compatible with Geringhoff.
- Knife shaft assembly (with original knives) 501051 / 5501120 Geringhoff.
Feeders - a unique concept for feed chains
With the automatic feed chain tensioning system, Geringhoff ensures that the cutterbar is always optimally tensioned and ready for work. A special tool from Geringhoff enables quick and easy replacement of the header chains. The optimal setting of the chain tensioner and sprocket ensures optimum protection against blockage by foreign objects, which prevents breakage and jamming of the cutterbar gearbox.
The Rota Disc® concept from Geringhoff is not only an efficient but also an innovative technology that helps farmers to improve the quality of the leaf mass and ensure high productivity of the corn header.
