LEMKEN Diamant 18 with Integrated FlexPack Furrow Press: 6–8 Bottoms for Moisture Retention and Stability—even on Rocky Fields
In June 2025 the German manufacturer LEMKEN unveiled an updated semi-mounted Diamant 18 that can now be factory-equipped with the ring-packer FlexPack. This makes the Diamant 18 the only single-wheel reversible plough on the market that combines traditional ploughing with on-the-spot furrow pressing straight out of the box—an advantage that Ukrainian farms in arid or stony areas have long been waiting for.
A chassis built for heavy-horsepower tractors
180 × 180 × 12.5 mm box frame delivers rock-solid stiffness when mated to tractors of up to 650 hp.
6, 7 or 8 bottoms with 100 or 120 cm inter-body clearance let operators match throughput to implement width and drawbar pull.
Each body’s working width adjusts in four steps (33–60 cm), enabling fine-tuning of fuel use versus inversion quality.
Relocated transport wheel: lower centre of gravity, cleaner cut
To mount FlexPack in the popular in-furrow layout, LEMKEN shifted the support wheel behind the main frame. The redesign:
- lowers the centre of mass and reduces torsional stress on the frame;
- eases headland manoeuvres via automatic 90-degree caster steering;
- stabilises depth on slopes because the tail body no longer “hops” across the soil.
FlexPack: sealing the seed-bed with zero “dead zones”
Ring sections move in parallel with the plough frame and expand or contract with the set working width, leaving an evenly pressed furrow bottom without overlaps or untouched strips. For varying soils the press can be hydraulically ballasted, and the V-profile rings minimise sticky soil build-up.
Real-world economics for fields large and small
With the press on board, the operator no longer has to:
- haul a separate packer with a second tractor;
- hitch or unhitch equipment for road moves;
- burn time on re-adjusting before every pass.
Against a backdrop of labour shortages and expensive diesel, that translates into hard savings in engine hours and logistics, while drilling can start immediately after ploughing.
Where to source spare parts?
Even a robust machine’s uptime hinges on parts availability. Bas-Agro LLC (bas.ua) has supplied Ukrainian growers with tillage, drilling and cultivation spares for over a decade. Its catalogue covers everything from generic bearings and shares to OEM and compatible components for LEMKEN tillage gear - including Diamant bodies and FlexPack packer rings. Central-Ukraine warehouses ship parts in one to two days, slashing downtime during the peak season.
With FlexPack, the Diamant 18 tackles two jobs—first-class inversion and immediate furrow consolidation—in a single pass behind tractors up to 650 hp. Combined with flexible width settings and a smart wheel geometry, the plough is an attractive proposition for farms battling drought, rocky soils or soaring labour costs. Fast spare-parts support from Bas-Agro LLC keeps that investment turning soil instead of standing idle.
