The JAGUAR series of self-propelled forage harvesters from CLAAS is 50 years old!
In 1973, CLAAS launched its first self-propelled forage harvester, the JAGUAR 60 SF, beginning its remarkable journey to industry leadership. Over the years, the JAGUAR has remained the first choice for farmers and contractors around the world thanks to its advanced technology, efficiency and competitive price.
The CLAAS press release notes that "JAGUAR has stood for innovation, efficiency, performance and reliability for 50 years and is unrivaled by any forage harvester of this decade." The words of Dominique Grote, Senior Vice President, Self-Propelled Harvesters, emphasize JAGUAR's successful history in the world of agriculture.
JAGUAR is also recognized for its low cost and high efficiency in product life cycle management. High-quality components with low operating costs, exceptional service from CLAAS distributors and easy availability of spare parts guarantee a long service life. This makes JAGUAR unrivaled among forage harvesters, and used models are always looking for new owners.

JAGUAR's beginnings were linked to the emergence of self-propelled combine technology in the 1970s, which was marked by an increase in corn production. In 1973, CLAAS first introduced the JAGUAR 60 SF model. However, in response to growing demand, a more powerful version, the JAGUAR 80 SF, with a 213 hp engine and other improvements, was introduced in 1975.
A big leap forward for the brand was the JAGUAR 600 series, which was introduced in 1983 and set new standards for performance, shredding quality and design. The introduction of the JAGUAR 800 in 1994 with improved performance and 481 hp underlined CLAAS' leadership in the industry. The JAGUAR 880 was the most powerful combine in the world at the time.
In 2001, the JAGUAR 900 broke the "sound barrier" and became the first model with a 600 hp engine. In 2003, JAGUAR SPEEDSTAR became the first combine to be authorized to travel at 40 km/h on the road.
2008 brought new technological advances with the introduction of the JAGUAR 900 series, which expanded the capabilities of combines and included the 980 model with twin engines with a capacity of up to 830 hp. Since 2012, thanks to an infrared sensor, JAGUAR has been able to continuously measure dry matter content and other indicators, which has improved the accuracy of yield determination.
At the 2023 Agritechnica, CLAAS is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the JAGUAR with a special model with a special design and operator package. This version, the JAGUAR 990 TERRA TRAC, will be on display during the 2024 harvest and at special events organized by CLAAS distributors. In this way, JAGUAR continues its successful journey in the world of agriculture, bringing innovation and performance to every step of its development.
