Claas Reaches Production of 500,000 Combines
Since 1936, Claas has manufactured half a million combines, securing a leading position in the agricultural machinery industry. Today, several series of machines are produced, including Lexion, Trion, Evion, and Dominator, across three continents.
Claas was founded in 1913 by August Claas and initially focused on the production of agricultural machines for hay collection. The company released its first grain harvester in 1936.
Claas is also renowned for its innovations, such as the release of the world's first combine with hydrostatic transmission in 1972 and the first combine with an automatic feed rate control system in 1995. Today, Claas has factories in Europe, North America, and Asia, as well as a wide network of distributors worldwide.
It is worth noting that the largest number of Claas combines are the Dominator and Lexion models – about 100,000 and over 75,000 units respectively. The Super and Super Automatic models (about 65,000 units), as well as Europa and Columbus (together about 60,000 combines) and Tucano (about 35,000 units), have also made significant contributions to the global success of Claas grain harvesters. Smaller series, such as the Commandor Terra Trac, have also played an important role in the development and improvement of modern Claas combines.
The Claas Lexion 8900, one of the most powerful combines in the world, is equipped with an engine of over 790 horsepower and has a grain tank of 18,000 liters. The Claas Jaguar, a forage harvester, is known for its power and efficiency in collecting animal feed, demonstrating the versatility of Claas machinery.
The company emphasizes that ease of use, innovative operator assistance systems, and close cooperation with service partners ensure not only maximum efficiency but also unique performance of each Claas combine throughout its lifespan. Due to these characteristics, Claas combines remain in operation for a very long time – sometimes over five decades. The low annual depreciation makes all Claas series and models extremely popular even on the secondary market. Spare parts for agricultural machinery can be purchased on our website. Most of the spare parts for agricultural machinery are manufactured in-house.
Claas continues to improve its machines. Modern Lexion models use advanced technologies such as automatic driving systems and sensors to optimize harvest collection. The Claas Dominator, first released in 1970, remains one of the most popular models due to its reliability and durability, with sales of about 100,000 units.
"A Claas grain harvester is much more than just a machine," emphasizes Claas CEO Jan-Hendrik Mohr. "Behind every Evion, Trion, Lexion, and Dominator stands a powerful sales network, highly skilled service, fast and reliable spare parts supply, and much more. Equally important is the robust international marketing of used equipment, which, together with the technical performance indicators of productivity, reliability, and durability, inspires customers around the world."
