Bednar Sonic ON Seed Drill: a new 3–4 m mounted one-pass seeding rig

Bednar Sonic ON is a new mounted combined seeding unit first shown at Innov-Agri Nord (Picardy). It comes in 3 m and 4 m working widths and is designed for true one-pass seeding, paired with a rotary harrow. Trade media refer to it as Sonic ON, while recent manufacturer materials also mention SONIQ ON 3000.

Architecture and seeding section

The seeding units are mounted on parallelograms, inherited from the OMEGA line. Centralized downforce adjustment up to 75 kg keeps depth consistent on variable soils. Calibration is done from the rear of the machine; via the Farm Link mobile app you can perform it without repeatedly climbing into the cab. Standard electronics are ISOBUS.

Field demos indicate 12.5 or 15 cm row spacings — in line with typical OMEGA geometries for cereals and small seeds.

Hopper & metering: Ferti-Box above the rotary harrow

A Ferti-Box hopper sits above the tillage module with 1,600 L capacity. Configurations:

• Single-compartment (seed or mix);
• Twin-compartment 60/40 — each with its own metering unit; two drop points are possible via a twin distribution head (e.g., seed + starter fertilizer stream).

Tillage base: Kator KN

The host implement is the Kator KN rotary harrow (originating from Moreni) with hydraulic depth control. On 3–4 m versions the gearbox and driveline are rated for up to 250 hp via the PTO. Close rotor spacing ensures intensive clod breaking and a level seedbed.

Line-up and use cases

The range includes at least ON 3000 (3 m) and ON 4000 (4 m). This format suits farms running conventional or reduced till systems and aiming to cut passes while preserving seeding-depth control and seedbed quality thanks to the rotary harrow.
