AMAZONE Condor 02 seed drill

AMAZONE Condor 02 seed drill
05.01.2026

AMAZONE Updated the Condor 02 Seed Drill Series: A More Compact Chassis, 8 - 9 m Working Width and Higher Precision for Direct Drilling

AMAZONE has introduced the updated Condor 02 trailed seed drill series, continuing the Condor concept for mulch sowing and direct drilling (direct sowing / no-till) while placing a stronger emphasis on manoeuvrability, consistent seeding depth, and digital control. The core idea behind the upgrade is to combine the output of a wide working-width machine with a more compact overall design, making field operation easier and reducing losses caused by overlaps, inconsistent placement depth, and soil compaction.

What Was Updated in the Condor 02

1) New 8 m and 9 m Working Widths with a More Compact Chassis

The Condor 02 range now includes 8 m and 9 m working widths. AMAZONE highlights that, together with a noticeably more compact chassis, this delivers a well-balanced mix of productivity and manoeuvrability - particularly useful on irregularly shaped fields, during headland turns, and in edge-of-field logistics.

2) Row Spacing of 25 cm or 20 cm (Optional) - For Late Sowing and Faster Ground Cover

The standard configuration is 25 cm, with 20 cm available as an option. AMAZONE explains the agronomic rationale: faster crop canopy closure can be especially valuable when drilling winter crops late at higher seed rates, and in spring when weed pressure is high.

3) ConTeC pro Tine Coulters: Up to 120 kg Coulter Pressure and Optional V-Roller Furrow Closure

Seeding is carried out with the ConTeC pro tine coulter system. AMAZONE stresses its simplicity, low maintenance requirements, and strong performance in crop residues. For challenging conditions, coulter pressure can be increased up to 120 kg per coulter. To ensure reliable furrow closure, particularly on sticky soils, an optional V-Press (V-roller) is offered.

4) Automatic Coulter Pressure Control on Uneven Terrain

A notable engineering upgrade is automatic coulter pressure control for undulating fields. The system maintains consistent downforce whether the drill is working on ridges or in hollows. This directly supports uniform placement depth and more even crop establishment where terrain varies.

5) 4,100 L Pressurised Hopper with 3 Compartments (50/30/20) for Seed and Fertiliser

The standard specification lists a 4,100 L pressurised, three-compartment hopper with a 50% / 30% / 20% split. This layout enables flexible combinations of seed and fertiliser, or even multiple seed types. AMAZONE underlines stable metering and precise distribution even at higher application rates.

6) MultiSwitch: Individual Row Shut-Off, Reduced Overlaps and Input Efficiency

Condor 02 is equipped with MultiSwitch for individual row control. This supports more accurate work on wedges and headlands, reduces overlaps, and allows operators to switch off rows to match wider row crops (the manufacturer’s example is shutting off every second row for oilseed rape or soybeans).

AMAZONE also provides an illustrative saving calculation: if overlaps are reduced from roughly ~5% to <1%, on 1,000 ha/year with input costs of around ~€150/ha for seed and fertiliser, savings could reach up to €6,000 purely from reduced overlap. This should be treated as a manufacturer illustration - real results depend on field shape, guidance systems, and agronomic conditions.

7) 750 mm VF Tyres and Track Eradicators for Soil Protection

To reduce ground pressure, 750 mm VF low-pressure tyres are available. In addition, track eradicators help compensate for tractor wheel tracks and protect the seedbed - particularly relevant in mulch sowing systems.

8) ISOBUS Operation: AmaTron 4 and Optional TwinTerminal

The drill is operated via ISOBUS, supporting the AmaTron 4 terminal. AMAZONE also mentions an optional TwinTerminal mounted on the machine for convenient on-site calibration, including with gloves - reducing unnecessary movement between the drill and the cab. Precision-farming functions such as Section Control, task maps, and ISOBUS tramlining are also part of the overall concept.

Practical Impact at a Glance: “Upgrade - Benefit” Table

Condor 02 UpgradeWhat the Manufacturer StatesWhat It Means in the Field
8 m and 9 m + more compact chassisNew widths and compact designBetter manoeuvrability on wedges and headlands without sacrificing output
25 cm / 20 cm row spacing (option)20 cm for late drilling and faster coverFaster canopy closure, potentially improved weed suppression
ConTeC pro up to 120 kg/coulterHigh downforce, optional V-PressMore consistent depth and furrow closure in difficult soils
Automatic downforce on terrainEqual pressure on ridges and in hollowsFewer emergence “patches” caused by variable placement depth
4,100 L hopper (50/30/20)Pressurised 3-compartment hopperFlexible seed/fertiliser strategies and stable metering at high rates
MultiSwitch row-by-rowReduced overlaps, flexible row patternsInput savings on irregular fields and better placement control
750 mm VF + track eradicatorsLower ground pressure, track compensationLess compaction and a more uniform seedbed in mulch systems
ISOBUS, AmaTron 4, TwinTerminalCab control and easier calibrationFaster setup and fewer adjustment errors

Conclusion

The AMAZONE Condor 02 update looks like a practical, field-driven package rather than a cosmetic refresh: wide working widths in a more compact build, stronger control over depth and downforce on uneven ground, row spacing flexibility, row-by-row shut-off, and a focus on soil protection. For farms committed to mulch sowing and direct drilling, these improvements target the areas where small percentages of precision can turn into meaningful seasonal savings.
