Innovative solutions for sorting and packaging blueberries: GreenSort at the forefront of the market
As the area under tall blueberry plantations continues to grow, quality, freshness and quality packaging are the key to a favorable price. Large volumes of goods lose their importance when we can offer the same products in small packages for a much better price. This has already been discovered by small farmers who are already working with compact sorters and automatic scales from GreenSort.
Small family farms have long appreciated the Polish manufacturer's solutions: smart sorters, accurate 2- and 4-head scales, calibrators, and complete sorting and packaging lines from GreenSort are already in operation on 60 farms in Europe. This is an example of the use of artificial intelligence technologies on small family farms with an area of 5 to 20 hectares. It is important to note that the sorter works on the basis of a patented artificial intelligence system and learns on its own during sorting. These solutions have proven their worth on small and medium-sized blueberry plantations, and large growers are joining their ranks. The flexibility, modularity, speed of recalibration and functionality similar to that of large lines, as well as the quick payback of the lines are significant factors.
While competitors continue to work on blueberry software, small and medium-sized producers in Europe are already taking advantage of the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence and the latest computer vision systems in agriculture. The question arises whether this is a truly proven solution. Most of these types of solutions are already in operation in Poland, while others can be found in Portugal, France, Austria, Italy, Romania, Croatia, Hungary, Lithuania, and Norway. Germany, Italy, and France have already ordered a machine for the current season. Smaller blueberry plantations are being established all over the world alongside large ones. There is enough room for both in the blueberry business.
Large packaging companies are increasingly demanding small and flexible solutions. It turns out that GreenSort's small and fast lines for blueberries are not too small even for the BIGGEST players on the market. Some large factories have 2 or 3 of these solutions in their packaging departments, especially when it comes to scales. This has its advantages and, in practice, allows you to create packaging for a wide range of customers and improves financial liquidity. Interestingly, Greensort lines also operate in several large packaging campaigns alongside large sorting lines.
The productivity of this line is 600-800 kg per hour and is absolutely sufficient to process multi-pallet orders during the day with the help of only 5-7 people. A small additional line makes it possible to fulfill profitable orders without the need to re-equip almost the entire factory for another type of packaging and without generating production downtime.
Distributors who purchase products from large farmers' markets and port fruit warehouses have also found that GRINSORT sorting and weighing machines work very well with imported fruit that has already become soft after long-distance transportation. As they emphasize, the machines are very accurate, easy to maintain and easy to upgrade.
The precise distribution system of the automatic weigher allows you to limit the weight of a single blueberry and preserve the valuable layer in the skin.
