Knife sharpening system for Krone BIG X 630 forage harvesters
KRONE received one of seventeen honorable mentions at Agritechnica-2023 for its innovative automatic knife sharpening system for its forage harvesters. This technology is characterized by the absence of manual adjustment and provides significant fuel savings during operation.
This was announced by Volodymyr Markov, KRONE's marketing representative, at Agritechnica-2023.
"The new sharpening system is distinguished by the fact that it provides an accuracy of up to 95%. This year, we paid special attention to improving the sharpening process as we studied its impact on fuel consumption. The specialists of our official importer in Ukraine, FarmyLand, conducted a series of tests on the BIG X 630 combine on various farms this year and drew up protocols that were signed by both farm directors and FarmyLand representatives. It was recorded that with daily sharpening, diesel fuel consumption per ton of harvested green mass increases from 0.53 to 0.65 liters. However, if you sharpen twice a day, the consumption is already 0.5-0.49 liters per ton," Markov said.
Considering that the Krone BIG X 630 can harvest 1.3 to 1.9 thousand tons of green mass per day, it is obvious that this technology leads to significant savings.
